PEME: Multiple New Clinics Approved for Transiting Seafarers

PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL EXAMINATION (PEME) PROGRAM: NEWLY APPROVED CLINICS IN ANTWERP, ATHENS, ELIZABETH, NEW JERSEY, HONG KONG, ROTTERDAM AND SINGAPORE FOR SEAFARERS IN TRANSIT

Your Managers are pleased to report the further development of the Club’s PEME program. In response to Members’ requests, the program has been expanded to include locations outside the home countries of seafarers requiring such examinations, that is to say seafarers originating from Latvia, the Philippines, Poland, Romania, the Russian Federation and Ukraine.

Additional clinics have been approved in Antwerp, Athens, Elizabeth, New Jersey (New York City area), Hong Kong, Rotterdam and Singapore. Members should be aware that if they wish to utilize a clinic outside the seafarer’s native country, the Managers must be notified in advance to assist in facilitating the PEME at the appropriate location.

It is expected that, by August 2008, clinics in Istanbul, Mumbai and Shanghai will also have been approved. Members will be notified accordingly in due course.
