CLOSING OF THE 1996 POLICY YEAR
BOARD APPOINTMENT
APPOINTMENT OF CLUB SECRETARY

The Club held its Annual Meeting in New York on June 15, 2000. In conjunction with this, the Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors, as well as a regular meeting of the Board, also took place. A number of important matters were discussed and decisions made.

Closing of the 1996 Policy Year

Having reviewed this year¹s most recent development, your Board resolved that it be formally closed without further call. The surplus for the year has been transferred to the Club's contingency account.

Board Appointment

At the Annual Meeting of Members, Mr. Earl G. Jackson of Martin Resource Management Corporation was elected a Club Director. Members will no doubt join the Board in wishing Mr. Jackson well in his future participation in its affairs.

Appointment of Club Secretary

At the Annual Meeting of the Directors, Mr. Thomas J. McGowan, formerly President of Shipowners Claims Bureau, Inc., Managers of the Club, stood down as Club Secretary after more than seventeen years of service. Again, Members will no doubt join the Board in thanking Mr. McGowan for his work on the Club's behalf over many years and in wishing him a continuingly happy retirement.

At the same meeting, the Directors elected Mr. Joseph E.M. Hughes, Chairman and CEO of Shipowners Claims Bureau, Inc., as the Club's new Secretary with immediate effect.
