The use of bamboo dunnage for carriage of bagged rice on bulk carriers is the most common practice in the industry due to easily obtained and cheap materials.  This animation provides a summary of best practices when using bamboo materials for dunnage.

The following pictures show the use of bamboo dunnage for the transportation of bagged rice and some types of damages sustained as a use of bamboo dunnage.
