There are risks to shipowners relevant to bunker fuels that can have a significant impact upon P&I and FD&D coverage. Your Managers have provided guidance materials that can assist Members in addressing bunker fuels related matters taking into account fuel oil quality, quantity and the forthcoming regulatory changes for the 2020 IMO sulfur cap requirements.

First and foremost, the American Club presents, Bunkering — A Compendium , that provides a comprehensive approach to loss prevention initiatives demanded both by the new regulations and generally by supplying guidance on operations and management, both ashore and afloat, aimed at obviating exposures with both a P&I and FD&D insurance implications.

For further information on issues or claims involving bunker supplies, please contact your Managers' FD&D or Loss Prevention departments, which is available at all global offices, for assistance.
